Bloch dedicated the photo given to him by cellist Zara Nelsova (born in Canada to Russian parents, and now almost 100 years old), with the words ‘ForMadame Schelomo, with all my admiration and affection’– a photo she distributed to her friends, teachers and supporters such as Piatigorsky et Feuermann. The few recordings that exist of her performances are exalted by her 1726 Stradivarius. Herewehavehere anopulent, hitherto unpublished trilogy, bringing together Lalo and his romantic vibrancy, Barber and his neo-Stravinskyan lyricism, and Bloch’s famous Hebrew Rhapsody.

Tribute to Jacqueline Mary du Pré (1945 –1987), miraculous English cellist. At a young age, she achieved enduring mainstream popularity unusual for a classical performer. Despite her short career, she is regarded as one of the most distinctive cellists of the second half of the twentieth century. Three major recordings are illustrating this short musical portrait.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Praga Digitals presents a box-set of 30 key discs that retrace the history of the label.
