W. A. MOZART (1756-1791) : PIANO TRIOS KV 496, KV 542, KV 548 - Vol. 1 - Guarneri Trio Prague

In stock

Three of the six works for piano trio achieved by Mozart between 1776 and 1788. The genre was in full expansion in Vienna owing to the growing vogue of the pianoforte, which was occurring in middle-class as well as aristocratic drawing rooms. Mozart nudged the simple ‘Sonata with accompaniment’ into oblivion, proposing a new balance, especially in the pre-romantic Trio in B flat announcing the op.70 of Beethoven, achieved eighteen years later.

Franz SCHUBERT (1797-1828) : PIANO TRIO (2) D 898, 929 - Guarneri Trio Prague

In stock

These ‘twin brothers’ from the final period offer two portraits of the composer of Winterreise; one is meant to be radiant and convivial, the other is that of the solitary walker, wandering amidst his memories, sometimes those of Schubertiads, where he was the driving force, accompanying singers or musicians in timeless evenings of friendship.

Bedrich SMETANA : PIANO TRIO OP 15 (+ SUK : PIANO TRIO OP 2, ELEGY) (+FISER : PIANO TRIO) - Guarneri

In stock

Four examples of Bohemian Expressionism: Romantic with the tombeau ‘to the memory of an angel’ that Smetana erected to his daughter Bedřiska, and the two pieces that Suk wrote under the influence of Schumann and Dvořák, his father-in-law; and modern with the premiere of the Trio 1978 by the late Luboš Fišer, tormented composer, too soon forgotten, of the 15 Prints on Dürer’s Apocalypse (1965).

Antonin DVOŘÁK (1841 - 1904) - COMPLETE PIANO TRIOS - Guarneri Trio Prague

In stock

Written between 1874 and 1891 by the composers of the symphony ‘Of the new World’, the four piano trios completed follow the stylistic evolution of a musician who wanted to be “Czech” while assimilating the models offered by Beethoven and Brahms as we can see in Op. 21 and 26. The trio op.65 reaches the quality of his models and invents his own way in the continuation of musical sonnets of the six Dumky, preludes to future masterworks (op.107 and 110). The Guarneri Trio Prague is for more than twenty years the heir to this Slavic tradition. They fully return the exuberance and the nostalgia of these deeply human pages.
