Although his career was cut short, Weber made his name as the first true Romantic, following in Mozart’s operatic footsteps, and even forging a Germanic style for international audiences with his Freischütz, Euryanthe and Obéron. He leaves behind opera overtures worthy of Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini and even Berlioz which are frequently performed as concerts. And taking pride of place, Weber’s famous Invitation to the Dance in its original piano version, followed by a captivating orchestral arrangement by Berlioz.
