WILHELM FURTWÄNGLER FIRST VIENNA SCHOOL CONCERT (1786-1791)
Every concert conducted by the great Furtwängler was a unique and unrepeatable experience. His improvised touches added a vibrancy and immediacy which surprised audiences and even the orchestra. During the difficult post war years he conducted operas (e.g. Wagner in Milan) more than concerts, leaving few performances of Mozart or Haydn symphonies for posterity. Most of this precious heritage fits onto a single SACD.
